Practice Team News

We welcome Dr Shawly Kabir, Dr Sam Tung and Dr Rupert Spencer to the Practice.

Training /Teaching Practice

This medical practice is a training practice and GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors often with considerable hospital and GP experience. Dr Alan Douglas, Dr Andrew Sutherland and Dr Iain Harper are our educational supervisors.

Teaching

As a medical training practice, we train post-graduate doctors with a hospital background, undergraduate doctors, and student nurses.   We hope that our patients will agree to our medical students and student nurses occasionally observing during patient consultations to progress development of their consultation skills.  However, you will be informed of their presence in advance and if you do not want them to be present at a consultation, your wishes will be respected.  This will not affect your treatment in any way.

Dr Lauren Wilson returns from maternity leave in August.   Dr Wilson will work Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Inveresk Facebook page

News from our Summer Vaccination Team

RESPIRATORY SYNCYTIAL VIRUS (RSV) VACCINATION PROGRAMME

Our programme planning is well underway, and letters have begun to arrive on the doorsteps of our eligible 75–79-year-olds in East Lothian.

We will commence on WC 4th August with visits to our care home residents and those unable to leave their own homes.  Letters have been sent to those eligible whom we know to be housebound from previous programme advising we will be in touch to arrange a suitable time to visit.   Anyone who may have become newly housebound that we are not aware of will have been invited by timed appointment to clinic.   There are contact details on the letter where they can phone to advise us if they are unable to attend a clinic. We will screen for eligibility and arrange a visit as required.  Practices can also refer via the housebound referral form.    We would gratefully request only those meeting the housebound criteria are referred for a visit (attached). We currently have around 800 on the housebound list and with timings of all programmes being incredibly tight and with limited staffing citizens quickest way to be vaccinated will always be by attending clinic wherever possible – this also ensures those completely unable to leave their homes are vaccinated as soon as possible.

Clinics will commence on the 12th of August through to 15th September.

FLU AND COVID

We are currently in planning stages for this programme which is anticipated to commence WC 16th September for Flu and 30th September for Covid.   Further updates will follow for this programme in due course.

NON ROUTINE VACCINATION

We continue to respond to referrals as soon as possible after we receive competed referral form.    In addition, we are working with colleagues in public health to provide access to vaccination via a number of initiatives including MMR response, New Ventures initiative – covering those who have not had Men ACWY, Tetanus, HPV.   Letters have been sent directly to those eligible with details of how to access drop ins over July.
